Preparing for Independence

Essential Life Skills Training provided for Independence: We provide practical guidance in practical topics including budgeting, cooking, and renting a place to live. Our aim is to equip looked-after children with the knowledge and abilities to live independently and with security.

Housing Options: Our committed team supports young people locate and gain access to suitable housing alternatives, such as supported housing, shared living, or private leases. We support young people in comprehending their rights and obligations as tenants and support them in finding acceptable housing.

Housing Benefits and Financial Support: We support looked-after children understand their entitlements and get the financial support, they need to keep their housing by providing information and assistance in negotiating the complexity of housing benefits.

Emotional Support

Therapeutic Services: We arrange and coordinate access to therapeutic services since we are aware of the emotional toll that leaving the care system takes.  We ensure access to skilled specialists who provide counselling and emotional support to looked-after children, supporting them in processing their experiences, strengthening their resilience, and acquiring effective coping skills.

Peer Support: We provide opportunities for children in foster care to connect with others who have gone through similar things. Young people can establish sustaining relationships, exchange experiences, and learn from one another through group activities, workshops, and peer mentorship programmes.

Support for Education and Employment

Education Advice: We support looked after children who want to pursue educational opportunities including higher education or vocational training. Our staff provides support in selecting suitable courses, locating funding sources, and navigating the educational system.

Employment Pathways: We support looked after children  in choosing their career choices, acquiring job-search skills, and finding employment opportunities. We provide support with writing resumes, interview prep, and job placement services.

Apprenticeships and Work Experience: To develop practical skills, improve employment prospects, and explore various career pathways, we support young people in locating apprenticeships, internships, or work experience placements.

Wellness and Good Health

Access to Healthcare: We support young people in registering up with community healthcare providers, using medical and dental services, and recognising how the law applies in this area. We make sure they receive the support they need to take care of their physical and mental health needs.

Healthy Lifestyle: We advocate for healthy lifestyle choices, such as those related to eating habits, physical activity, and self-care. Our team provides ideas for leading a balanced lifestyle and participating in leisure pursuits that promote general wellbeing.
